Volkhov

Volkhov is a modern town and the managerial focal point of Volkhovsky District in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, situated on the Volkhov River 122 kilometers east of St. Petersburg. The town created amid the industrialization in the primary portion of the 20th century. The settlement of Zvanka with a train warehouse was worked here while the railroad associating St. Petersburg with Vologda was being constructed. It was a piece of Novoladozhsky Uyezd of St. Petersburg Governorate.

A second rail line running north of the station towards Murmansk was built in 1916, making the station a critical railroad intersection. In 1918, development of the Volkhov Hydroelectric Station began on this spot. In 1926, the power plant wound up operational and in 1932, the main Soviet aluminum plant was propelled close-by. As a managerial division, it is joined inside Volkhovsky District as Volkhovskoye Settlement Municipal Formation.
