About Castricum
Castricum is a village and municipality in the Dutch province of Noord-Holland. The municipality has 35,754 inhabitants and has an area of 59.92 km². The municipality is part of the Kennemerland cooperation region and has Castricum railway station. Castricum is handiest mentioned for the first time within the 10th century, but archaeological excavations show that the area turned into inhabited in Roman instances and from the early Middle Ages.
Castricum turned into one of the cores that originated within the location in the tenth or eleventh century. To the north of the middle of Castricum was Bakkum. In the course of time, several neighborhoods emerged. A church become constructed at the center of Castricum within the 11th century. Nowadays the Dutch Reformed Church, the Village Church. The hamlets of Duinzijde, Kleibroek and Noord-End have been created north of Castricum. Oosterbuurt and Heemstee had been created inside the east. The city of Schulpstet turned into also created between Duinzijde and Bakkum. This place was created around the place of loading and unloading of shells for the lime kilns and distilleries.
