Borculo

Borculo is a metropolis within the eastern Netherlands, within the municipality of Berkelland, Gelderland. Borculo become an independent municipality until 2005, while it merged with Eibergen, Neede, and Ruurlo. Other population facilities in the municipality of Borculo were nearby Geesteren, Gelselaar, and Haarlo. Borculo began as a settlement near where, at the time, the Berkel joined a smaller move called the Grolse Slinge. In the 12th century a citadel known as the Hof van Borculo become built. A protective wall surrounding the village become built in 1348. The village acquired town rights in 1375.
