Benaulim is a census town in the state of Goa, India. It is the neighbour of Colva village from the north, Margao in the northeast and Varca village from the south. Amid the Portuguese administration, it was one of the nine comunidades in the locale of Salcete. Contemporary Benaulim is a prevalent coastline resort in South Goa locale, eminent for its mild climate, brilliant sands, and palm‑fringed shorelines. It additionally houses Goa's solitary Don Bosco Animation Center. It is the origin of St. Joseph Vaz who was a minister and preacher in Sri Lanka.
There are two well known holy places in Benaulim. The Holy Trinity Church is another congregation worked with present day configuration close to the shoreline territory near Maria Hall Junction, while St John the Baptist Church is old church prevalent for sanctifying through water St. Joseph Vaz. It is situated in Cana benaulim. There is one lavish lodging in Benaulim, Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Goa. There is a concealed side of Benaulim shoreline entrance behind the resort. They facilitated the eighth BRICS Summit in 2016.
The town was known as Banahalli or Banawali the town of the bolt before the approach of the Portuguese. Boycott is the Sanskrit word for 'bolt' and Halli the Kannada word for 'town'. As indicated by the Sahyadrikhanda of the Skanda Purana, Lord Parashurama shot his bolt into the ocean and summoned the ocean god Varuna subside up to the point where his bolt landed. The bolt is said to have arrived at Banahalli. The territory was then settled by Goud Saraswat Brahmins from northern India.
