Fiestas de taos is a long-lasting festivity where the people of Taos leave everything for the sake of holy days and food, dancing, arts and crafts. Their main motive is to remember their two patron saints Santa Ana and Santiago and pay gratitude to him, and therefore they head towards Taos Plaza and religiously follow all rituals for three consecutive days.
Being an ancient festival, it includes all that that gathers loads of crowds such as New Mexican cuisine, indigenous dances, Spanish folk music and the hospitality and carino of local Taosenos and thus pleases everybody. The selection of a Fiesta Queen and her court by the Fiesta Council each year is the thrilling point of the event. Reason being she and her realm reside over countless festival events, containing escorting a horde of revelers after the opening mass to the Plaza for opening ceremonies.
