Sancel

Sancel is the village of residence of the commune with the equal call in Alba County, Transylvania, Romania. The documentary attestation - the town being stated for the primary time in a file from 1252, while the pinnacle of the Alba Iulia church suggests that the sons of the committee Martin offered Herbord and his brother Laurentiu, half of Sancel.

It is meant that the settlement existed before this date, for the reason that the report states that "inside the happy climate" this land fed three villages. Later the village's name reappears in different files, which make stronger the historical attestation of the village: - the contract of 1271 through which the king of Hungary, Stephen V 1270 to 1272, accepted the sale of two estates from Braşov and Chyel from Calnic; - two belongings acts of 1315 and 1341; - the 1347 document by using which Peter, the Transylvanian vice-voivode, asks the Captain of Alba Iulia to send his testimonial for the established order of the Sancel property.
