Omihachiman

Omihachiman is a city situated in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The city was established on March 31, 1954. On March 21, 2010, the town of Azuchi was converged into Omihachiman. "Omihachiman" signifies "Hachiman in Omi". At the point when Hachiman Town the precursor of this city turned into a city, there was the current city of Yahata in Fukuoka Prefecture. In Japanese, "Hachiman" and "Yahata" are composed by same kanji, so "Omi" was added to abstain from being confounded. "Hachiman" is the Shinto divine force of war. His image is the pigeon.

Omihachiman had been a created business town even since Toyotomi Hidetsugu assembled a chateau and accumulated numerous vendors in the last piece of sixteenth century. In 1905, an American draftsman William Merrell Vories came to Omihachiman as an English language educator at business secondary school. Places of interest:

• Himure Hachimangu - The biggest hallowed place in Omihachiman which was the name birthplace of the city name "Hachiman".

• Sagicho Festival - A flame celebration in each March which is held in the old city territory and the Himure Hachimangu.

• Mount Hachiman or Mount Kakuyoku - A mountain which there was Hidetsugu's stronghold. Hachimanyama Ropeway benefits between the peak and Himure Hachimangu.
