Sasan Gir is the world famous national park and wildlife sanctuary situated in Gujarat. One of the most popular tourist spots in the whole of state, it is regarded as one of the oldest sanctuaries, which was established in 1965 and covers an area of 1412 square meters and 1153 meters for the park and sanctuary respectively.
It is located 65 kilometers from Junagadh, to its South East. The park is the sole place of dwelling for the Asiatic lions, also known as the Panthera Leo Persica. It is one of the most protected areas in Asia. It was formerly protected in 1990 by the Nawab of Junagadh.
