Diosgyor Castle

The Diosgyor Castle is a medieval fort in the historical metropolis of Diosgyor that's now part of the Northern Hungarian town Miskolc. The first Diosgyor Castle became constructed in all likelihood inside the twelfth century and become destroyed in the course of the Mongol invasion 1241 to 42. The modern, Gothic fort became constructed after the invasion and reached the height of its significance at some point of the reign of King Louis the Great 1342 to 1382.

Later it have become a marriage present for the queens of Hungary, which it remained till the Ottoman invasion of Hungary inside the 16th century. By the stop of the 17th century it was already in ruins. Archaeological excavations started out within the 1960s. In 2014 the castle changed into absolutely rebuilt, the reconstructed rooms are furnished with Mediaeval-style furniture. The first fort turned into constructed in the 12th century, it's far probably that it was an earthwork and wooden castle and changed into destroyed during the Mongol invasion 1241 to 1242.
