About Freising
Freising is a city in Bavaria, Germany, and the capital of the Freising district, with a populace of 45,227. Even although archaeological finds show that the location become settled within the Bronze Age, no proof has been observed but to indicate a continuous settlement until the 8th century AD Frigisinga. Saint Corbinian settled at a shrine that already existed at Freising in 724. He was the forerunner of the diocese of Freising, established after his dying through Saint Boniface. According to his Vita by means of Bishop Arbeo he ordered a endure to carry his baggage over the Alps after it had killed his packhorse.
The saddled bear continues to be the symbol of the city, displayed inside the coat of arms. Though the seat of the diocese became moved to Munich in 1821, consisting of the elevation to an arch-diocese, Freising has remained the seat of diocese administration till today. Between 764 to 783, Bishop Arbeo founded a library and scriptorium at the abbey. The agreement started to emerge as a spiritual centre. The earliest recorded tornado in Europe struck Freising in 788. The mortal stays of Pope Alexander I are stated to had been transferred to Freising in 834.
