Octeville

Octeville is a town and former commune located on the northern give up of the Cotentin peninsula within the northwestern French branch of Manche. It is a subprefecture of its branch, and become formally formed while the commune of Cherbourg absorbed Octeville on 28 February 2000. On 1 January 2016, it became merged into the brand new commune of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin.

The metropolis is a Maritime prefecture and sub prefecture of la Manche. Due to its union, it is the maximum populated town in its department with 37,121 population making it the primary city of the branch earlier than the Saint Lo prefecture and the second one in the place after Caen. With Caen, Cherbourg Octeville is the main cultural centre of Lower Normandy.
