On landing in Beijing, you will arrive at your hotel, either on by yourself or by opting for transfer. The latter can be selected when booking. On arriving at the hotel, you should check the hotel/’s notice board to find out the name of your tour guide and hisher phone number. Your guide will also give you a goody bag, either today or the next day, when there is a route inspection at the Great Wall Marathon venue. There will be no meals for the day.

Great Wall Venue, Huangyaguan, Jixian

Today/’s itinerary includes the Great Wall and Jixian. Check out of our hotel and have breakfast. If not a buffet breakfast, you will get a breakfast box, owing to our early departure. Later, head to the Great Wall venue early in the morning, where we will have what is called a route inspection to prep for the marathon. Runners will head to the Great Wall venue for the course inspection and will be expected to walk the stretch of the Huangyaguan stretch of the Great Wall, which is 3.5 km long. Even non-runners can attend this, as long as they are in good shape.

We will be served a sandwich lunch, after which we will go to Jixian, a small county that is 45 minutes away. The afternoon is free and can be used to explore Jixian and its culture. In the evening, sample some local cuisine.

Relax, Rural China (optional)

With the marathon only a day away, get to take it easy today. You can soak in the beauty of Jixian and its culture. Visiting this county will give you the opportunity to experience both the rural and urban side of China. You can also take the optional Rural Tour that will give you the chance to explore the successful agriculture and rural industries in Jixian. Today/’s lunch comes only as part of the Rural Tour. When you get back, you will be served dinner with an assortment of traditional Chinese food, including rice and noodle dishes.

The Huangyaguan Pass Marathon

The day of the marathon is finally here! Considered one of the most challenging marathons in the world, the Great Wall Marathon takes place in the historic and phenomenal Great Wall of China. Apart from the visually inspiring surroundings, the course of the marathon ambles into valleys, villages and to exciting places, even as the crowd cheers and partakes in the revelries.

It has something to offer both runners and non-runners, so grab an early breakfast at 5 am, check out of your hotel and leave for the Great Wall of China/’s Huangyaguan section, where the race will start at 7.30 am. Lunch will consist of sandwiches, which will be given at the venue. Following the race, a 20-minute massage is included in the package.

Beijing is your next destination and buses to the city will be plying between 12 and 430pm.

City of Emperor tour, City of People tour

Day Details

This tour enables you to experience classic Beijing, with its 3000-year history and architecture, including the Giant Panda and the Summer Palace.

Optional Tour 2 - Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Silk exhibition hall, Peking Duck Lunch (Price USD 62 per person)

The other tour is called the City of People tour, which gives you the chance to visit the famous and historical Tiananmen Square, among other attractions like the Forbidden City and the Silk Exhibition, where you can pick up silk souvenirs to take home.

You can end today/’s relaxation, shopping and discovery on a celebratory note by going to the Marathon Party! All participants of the Marathon will be picked up from the hotel and taken to the party.

Today/’s meals include breakfast and dinner. Lunch will only be included if a tour option is purchased

If you can grab some time before your flight leaves, you can do a last-minute, whirlwind tour of Beijing, shopping and sightseeing. Only breakfast is included in today/’s itinerary.
