Day 01: Airport - Negombo Travel Time - Approx. 30 mints a.m. Welcome & assist by Helanka Vacations.
Proceed to Chilaw and visit the Munneswaram Temple. It is believed that Munneswaram is a significant historical place in Sri Lanka and predates the Ramayana. Sinhala, Hindu, and Buddhist devotees worship by this historical temple.
Day 02: Negombo – Kandy Travel Time - Approx. 3hrs - 4hrs a.m.
After breakfast leave for Kandy. En –route visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala. Pinnawalla is notable for having the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. The orphanage was created to protect abandoned and orphaned elephants. It has now grown into the most popular elephant attraction in the country and with good reason. For nowhere else except at Pageants (processions) are you likely to see so many elephants at close quarters.
Day 03: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya Travel Time - Approx. 1hr - 2hrs.a.m.
After an early breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya. The road from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya climbs nearly 1,400 meters as it winds through jade green Tea Plantations and past crystal-line reservoirs. Kotmale reservoir can be seen from a little further up the road Ramboda falls, 108 meters in height can also be viewed en-route. Visit a Tea Plantation and Factory En -route. You will be taken around the factory on a guided tour and explained the entire process of tea manufacture. You will also be given an opportunity of tasting freshly brewed “Ceylon Tea”, considered as the best in the world.
Day 04: Nuwara Eliya - Ella Travel Time - Approx. 1hr- 2hrs a.m.
After breakfast visit the Hakgala Botanical Garden (Asoka Vatika). Ravana had moved Sita to Paradise garden Asoka Vatika (Forest of Happiness) in Nuwara Eliya. In Hakgala, Hanuman had conveyed Rama’s message of love to Sita, bringing him Rama’s ring. Hakgala now holding Botanical gardens, means ‘jaw rock, where legend has that Hanuman carried it in his jaw. The grooves on the rock have said to been created by Rama’s fire arrows and the location was where the final dual took place between the two foes.
Day 05: Nuwara Eliya – Colombo Travel Time - Approx. 5-6 hrs. a.m.
After breakfast leave for Colombo. Leave on a sightseeing tour of Colombo. (Approx.: 2-3hrs) A drive through the city will take you to Fort and Pettah - the commercial area of the city and tree-lined Colombo 7 - Cinnamon Gardens. Colombo 3, 4, 5 & 8 are the prime residential areas of the City. The Hindu Temple at Sea Street - lined with goldsmith shops, the Dutch Church at Wolfendhal dating back to 1749, the historic Devatagaha Mosque, Independence Square, BMICH, Gangaramaya Temple and Colombo Museum are some of the attractions in Colombo.
