After Breakfast start for Gangtok Site seeing. Places of interest are Rumtek monastery or the Dharma Chakra Centre is one of the most important centers of Kagyu lineage of Buddhism, after Tibet built by HH 09th Karmapa and later re-built by HH 16th Karmapa. Enchey monastery meaning solitary temple, was built in 1909 and is a 200 year old monastery. Located at a distance of 3 km from the city, the monastery is built on the spot, which is believed to be blessed by Lama Druptab Karpo. He was a tantrik master who was known for his flying powers. The monastery is also an important seat of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism, Directorate of handlooms & handicraft, Institute of Tibetology which is about 20 minutes drive down the main market,it is the most prestigious of its kind in India with a vast collection of rare Lepcha,Tibetian and Sanskrit manuscripts,statues,rare thangkas and is also a renowned worldwide centre for Buddhist philosophy and religion,
After Breakfast drive to Tsango Lake which is 40 kms from Gangtok and is at an altitude of 12,500 fts,oval in shape,about 15 mtrs deep,the lake is considered to be the sacred lake also one can have an experience of Rhododendrons,Primulas,Red Pandas,blue and yellow poppies and also the famus Himalayan wagon-“the Yak safari”. 40 kms from Gangtok and at an altitude of 12,500 ft, the ethereally beautiful Tsomgo lake is a must on every visitors itinerary. A winding road through rugged mountain terrain and sharp cliffs takes you to Tsomgo, which means source of the water in Bhutia language. The lake derives its water from the melting snows of the mountains surrounding the lake. Of legendary beauty, the lake looks different at different seasons. In winter the placid lake remains frozen with the area around it covered in snow while in late spring the profusion of flowers in bloom adds a riot of colours around the lake. The lake is associated with many myths and legends and is revered by the Sikkimese as sacred. It is believed that in olden times, Buddhist monks would study the colour of the water of the lake to forecast the future.
We check After breakfast we check out of the hotel and drive to Lachung (5hours) via Dikchu. Lunch at Mangan. We arrive Lachung in the evening & check into hotel and relax. Lachung is Lachung is a town in northeast Sikkim, India. It is located in the North Sikkim district and is near the border with Tibet.Lachung is at an elevation of about 9,600 ft or 3,000 m and at the confluence of the Lachen River and Lachung Rivers, tributaries of the River Teesta. The word Lachung means "small pass". The town is approximately 125 km from the capital Gangtok.
This morning after breakfast, we shall head for Yumthang Valley (14200ft).the drive to Yumthang takes about 1 hour along some of the most picturesque surroundings. Upon arrival at Yumthang, visit the beautiful valley; spend the time taking the pictures amidst spectacular backdrop of silver white valley. During the trip to Yumthang valley,you can also walk through the beautiful Shingba Rhododendron sanctuary where you can find a varieties of Rhododendron species and other foras and faunas.After this visit, we shall board the vehicle and head back to lachung. Explore Local village and experience the local traditional styles of livings.
After Breakfast We pack our luggage and leave for Gangtok. On the way if the weather is clear you may get to see mighty Khangchendzonga from Singhik. Lunch will be served at Maling Residency hotel at Mangan. After lunch drive to Phodong Monastery which was built in the 18th century by Chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal. It belongs to the Kargyupa sect. The original monastery has been rebuilt although the old mural paintings and frescoes were preserved. It celebrates its annual ‘chaam’ on the 28th and 29th day of the tenth month of the Tibetan calendar. While on the way to Gangtok from Phodong we visit Kabi-Lhungtshok,This historical place is about 17 kms. from Gangtok on the North Sikkim highway. This is where the historic treaty of blood brotherhood between the Lepcha Chief Te-Kung-Tek and the Bhutia Chief Khey-Bum-Sar was signed ritually. The spot where the ceremony took place is marked by a memorial stone pillar amidst the cover of dense forest. We arrive, Gangtok by 3 PM in the afternoon.
After Breakfast leave for halfday sighseeing to White Hall Flower show, Deorali Do-Drul Chorten, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology & Ropeway. Afternoon departure to Darjeeling which is around 04 hours drive. Evening check into the hotel. Refresh and relax.
Wake up early this morning, and we shall drive to the Tiger hill to witness the magnificient views of sunrise and the Mt.Khanchendzonga range.While we always talk about the sweeping views of sunrise from Tiger Hill and the view of the colossal Kanchenjunga with many other snow clad eastern Himalayan peaks from here, but we hardly talk about the summit of Tiger Hill itself. True that the blaze of rapidly changing colors of the snow peaks as the sun strikes is an awesome view, but Tiger Hill is great even otherwise.
After Breakfast drive to Mirik, a wonderful scenic beauties of the hills sorroundings and the magnificient Mt.Khanchendzonga and its ranges on the other side makes the drive beautiful and the drive through tea gardens adds the charm to this beautiful drive. Mirik-a nest in the hills is West Bengal’s one of the hill resort at an altitude of 1767 metres with its own special charms – 49 km. From Darjeeling and 52 km. From Siliguri. 1.25 km. Long lake is fed by perennial streams. A floating fountain in the middle of the lake is a joy for ever and very often you may find the glory of Kanchenjungha reflected in the lake waters. A rich forest with thousands of Cryptomaria-Japanica trees clothe the slopes on the west. A 3.5 km. zig-zag footwalk takes you along the lake – a sleek foot bridge connects the garden on the east with the woods on the west. Alone or in company you are sure to enjoy a boat-ride in the lake.
After Breakfast, we drive to Kalimpong, yet another beautiful hill station in the state of West Bengal.It takes around 2 ½ Hours to reach Kalimpong. Kalimpong is known for its educational institutions, many of which were established during the British colonial period. It used to be a gateway in the trade between Tibet and India before China's annexation of Tibet and the Sino-Indian War.
