At Mattupetty Dam Speed boating facility are available at your expense. The Shola forests around Mattupetty are ideal for trekking and bird watching, with the iety of birds found there. Trips through the Vembanad Lake backwaters cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes, and travel along narrow, shady canals where coir coconut fiber, copra dried coconut meat and cashews are loaded onto boats. Along the way are small villages with mosques, churches, temples and schools you can view villagers going for their daily activities, traditional Fishing Operations and Lush Green Rice Fields from your boat.
