From Rajkot, you will depart for the lovely seaside resort town of Diu. The town is one of the most sparsely populated in India and is known for its fortress and Portuguese cathedral. You will arrive at your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure to explore the picturesque town.
Day 2 :
A beautiful blend of sun, sand and sea, Diu situated off the southern tip of the Saurashtra (Kathiawad) peninsula of Gujarat, a picture of calmness with superb beaches and a fascinating history. Diu was ruled by many well-known kings and dynasties during the prehistoric, ancient and medieval times. It was a Portuguese colony until 1961 and is now a Union Territory, separated from Goa in 1987. You will visit St.Paul’s Church that was constructed in 1601. The main facade of the church is perhaps the most elaborate of all Portuguese churches in India and is adorned with volutes and shell-like motifs and magnificent wood carving. You will also Diu Fort, an expansive and imposing structure, situated on the coast of the island. The fort commands a magnificent view of sea. It was constructed between 1535 and 1541 AD. The fort is skirted by the Sea on the three sides and is home to a giant lighthouse. Several canons still stare menacingly from ramparts of the fort.
Day 3 :
Enjoy a fun filled day on the beach before you are transferred to Sasan Gir, home of the Gir Forest National Park. The Park is the last place in the world to spot the endangered Asiatic Lion in the wild. The park is also known for its large populations of Indian leopards, mugger crocodiles, and hyenas.
Day 4 : Sasan gir
Today marks the last day of your holiday. You will be transferred by road to Rajkot from where you will depart for your onward journey.
