Yateras

Yateras is a municipality in the Guantanamo Province of Cuba. The municipal seat is positioned in the city of Palenque, in the northern part of the province. Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is in part positioned on this municipality. A World Heritage Site is a landmark or vicinity which is selected by using the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as having cultural, historic, clinical or different form of significance, and is legally blanketed by global treaties.

The sites are judged important to the collective pursuits of humanity. The municipality is split into the barrios of Casimbas, Casisey Abajo, Casisey Arriba, Guayabal, Palmar, Río Seco, San Andrés, Sigual and Yateras. Jamaica, now seat of Manuel Tames municipality, was a part of Yateras till the reform of 1976. In 2004, the municipality of Yateras had a populace of 20,358. With a total location of 664 km2, it has a populace density of 30.7/km2.
