About Fort MacLeod
Fort Macleod is a town in the southwest corner of the territory of Alberta, Canada. It was established as a North-West Mounted Police garisson huts, and is named to pay tribute to the North-West Mounted Police Colonel James Macleod. It was known as the Town of Macleod somewhere in the range of 1892 and 1912. The town turned into a CPR divisional point and outskirts wood development started to be supplanted by block and sandstone.
In 1906 a fire crushed the downtown and wrecked a large portion of the wooden structures. From 1906 to 1912 Macleod had its most noteworthy time of development, as more new block and stone building supplanted the decimated wooden ones. The town is situated in the Municipal District of Willow Creek No. 26, at the convergence of Highway 2 and Highway 3, on the Oldman River.
It lies west of the bigger network of Lethbridge, close to the stores of the Peigan and Kainai First Nations. It is likewise found near the Waterton Lakes National Park. The town is found 8 kilometers 5.0 mi north of the McBride Lake Wind Farm, one of the biggest breeze cultivates in Alberta. The breeze cultivate has a limit of 75 megawatts of power.
