About Cochabamba

Cochabamba lies in a fertile valley at 2,558 meters above sea level, surrounded by the Tunari hill, the Alalay lagoon and the San Sebastian hill, which is situated in central Bolivia. Its weather is mild and pleasant. It is considered the best in the whole country, with warm-sunny days and cool nights. More lively and progressive than most high-altitude Bolivian cities, Cochabamba is mainly visited for its fertile landscape and the powerful brew known as chicha cochabambina. But Cochabamba is also home to several notable religious sites, including a miraculous weeping statue of Christ, a Mormon temple and a colossal statue of Christ that stands taller than the more famous one in Brazil.

The main attractions of the city is its excellent local cuisine and the imposing statue of Christ. El Cristo de la Concordia is a statue of Jesus Christ located atop San Pedro Hill, to the east of Cochabamba, it is Higher than the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. A great view of the city is offered from the top of the monument. Many claim its the most welcoming city in Bolivia due to its year-round spring climate and the openness of locals. Explore the rambling street markets and sample some local maize beer.
