Nizhnekamsk

Nizhnekamsk is a city in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, situated toward the south of the Kama River between the urban areas of Naberezhnye Chelny and Chistopol. It was established in 1961 as the work settlement of Nizhnekamsky. As its populace expanded, impelled by the development of Nizhnekamsk neftekhim petrochemical mechanical complex, Nizhnekamsk was conceded city status in 1966. The city remains a critical focus of the petrochemical business Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant. It is served by the Begishevo Airport.
