Saliste

Saliste is a city in Sibiu County inside the centre of Romania, 21 km west of the county capital, Sibiu, the principle locality within the Marginimea Sibiului vicinity. The city is situated at the brink of the Cindrel Mountains, on a sequence of river valleys which flow into the Cibin River within the South part of the Transylvanian Plateau. The region become inhabited for a completely long time, and on a hill among Sălişte and the nearby commune of Tilișca there are the ruins of an vintage Dacian fort.

The first report mentioning the metropolis is from 1354 and refers, in Latin, to Magna Villa. Early names could be Nogfalu in Hungarian and Grossdorf in German. Later, in 1383 the village is referred to as Magna Villa Valachiealis Big Village of the Vlachs, denoting its ethnically Romanian populace. Still later, it become one of the villages within the Țara Almașului, an area once in a while dominated through Wallachian rulers.
