Vire

Vire is a town and a previous collective in the Calvados division in the Normandy locale in northwestern France. On 1 January 2016, it was converged into the new collective of Vire-Normandie. The town is situated on the waterway Vire. Henri I Beauclerc, King of England and Duke of Normandy, had a redoubt developed on a rough slope top, which was encompassed by the Vire waterway. The redoubt was stoned square at the base to guarantee the barrier of the Duchy of Normandy against any assaults from Brittany or Maine.

This stone work would be later, At the start of the 13th century, Saint Louis requested that the current stonework be enhanced with outside bulwarks. Anyway this second region was just completed toward the start of the 14th century. On June 6, 1944, amid the Second World War, in the same way as other Norman urban communities and towns, Vire experienced vigorously the British bombings, and 95% of the town was crushed. One of the two target stamping flare bunches was askew and a significant part of the besieging fell over the town of Vire.

The Master Bomber responsible for the activity distinguished the issue and issued redresses to the approaching air ship. A great part of the shelling from the principal wave of airplane fell over the town of Vire murdering a considerable lot of the occupants. It was an upsetting night for some families. Vire was converged with the previous cooperative of Neuville. In 1972, Vire was converged with the previous collective of Saint-Martin-de-Tallevende. Vire is a piece of the canton of Vire.
