Meghalaya - Shillong and Cherrapunji with Jungle Lore

Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, begin your journey towards Shillong, the charming capital of Meghalaya. En route, stop at the picturesque Umiam Lake, a serene man-made reservoir surrounded by lush hills—perfect for photography and short walks. On reaching Shillong, check into your hotel. If time permits, you can visit Ward’s Lake, a beautifully landscaped lake in the heart of the city. Overnight stay in Shillong.

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunjee—famous for its breathtaking landscapes and cascading waterfalls. Visit Dwan Syiem View Point, the majestic Nohkalikai Falls (India's tallest plunge waterfall), the intriguing Mawsmai Caves, and the stunning Seven Sister Falls. Spend some time at the serene Eco Park, known for its panoramic views. Later, drive back to Shillong. En route, stop at the beautiful Elephant Falls, a three-tiered waterfall nestled in lush greenery. In the evening, explore Police Bazar, Shillong’s bustling local market, perfect for shopping local handicrafts and souvenirs.

This charming village is a model of community-based eco-tourism, with every resident playing a role in maintaining its pristine environment. Enjoy the natural beauty and serenity of the village, and take a short trek to the famous Single Decker Living Root Bridge in the nearby village of Riwai. Also visit the Natural Balancing Rock, an intriguing formation where a large boulder mysteriously balances on a smaller stone. Continue to Dawki, located near the India-Bangladesh border (Tamabil Border). The highlight here is the Umngot River, known for its crystal-clear waters—ideal for a serene boat ride (to be paid directly on-site). In the evening, drive back to Shillong and check in to your hotel. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Located on the outskirts of Shillong. Known as the “End of the Hills,” this scenic spot is often enveloped in mist and fog, offering panoramic views of deep gorges and lush green valleys—making it a paradise for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. Later, drive to Jowai to visit the stunning Krang Suri Falls, a turquoise cascade surrounded by forested cliffs and rocky outcrops. You can enjoy the view from a scenic platform or take a short walk down to the base of the falls for a closer experience. By evening, drive back to Shillong. Overnight stay in Shillong.
