Papineauville

Papineauville is a town and municipality in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada. It is the seat of the Papineau Regional County Municipality. The region is verged on the north side by the Petite-Nation River and on the south side by Pentecost Bay of the Ottawa River. The Parish of Sainte-Angelique was framed in 1851, and the area region with a similar name was made in 1855.

It was named after Angelique-Louise Cornud, spouse of Denis-Benjamin Papineau, who gave arrive for the development of the congregation and the parsonage. Additionally in 1855, a mail station was built up with the name Papineauville. This might be named out of appreciation for one of two people named Papineau: Joseph Papineau father of Louis-Joseph Papineau, who in 1801 purchased the lordship of the Petite-Nation where the town framed; or Denis-Benjamin Papineau sibling of Louis-Joseph and spouse of Angelique-Louise, and thought about the originator of this place.

In 1896, the Village Municipality of Papineauville isolated from Sainte-Angelique. Its first chairman was Henri Bourassa. On November 29, 2000, the Village Municipality of Papineauville and the Parish Municipality of Sainte-Angelique were brought together and converged into the new Municipality of Papineauville. The name Sainte-Angelique currently distinguishes the area of Papineauville which compares to the region of the previous ward region.
