Lauro de Freitas

Lauro de Freitas is a municipality in Bahia, Brazil. It covers 57.66 km2 22.26 sq mi and a populace of 194,641 2016 est. Lauro de Freitas has a populace thickness of 3,376 occupants for every square kilometer. It is found 15 km 9.3 mi from the state capital of Bahia, Salvador. Until July 31, 1962 it was an area of Salvador, named Santo Amaro de Ipitanga; subsequent to obtaining city status, it changed its name as a tribute to government official and architect Lauro Farani Pedreira de Freitas, who lived there the vast majority of his life and kicked the bucket in a plane accident.

Vilas do Atlantico, an affluent neighborhood, is situated in Lauro de Freitas. The city is eminent for being the origin of acclaimed outcast artist Damiao Experienca.
