Sheffield

Sheffield is a city in Colbert County, Alabama, United States, and is incorporated into the Shoals metropolitan territory. As of the 2010 enumeration, the number of inhabitants in the city was 9,039. Sheffield is the origination of "nation soul pioneer" and lyricist Arthur Alexander, French horn player Willie Ruff, prominent lawyer, on-screen character, previous congressperson and presidential contender Fred Thompson, Watergate board of trustees U.S. Congressperson Howell Heflin and U.S. Representative Mitch McConnell, whose father was working in close-by Athens when he was conceived. Sheffield is additionally home to the most seasoned extension site in the province of Alabama. What is today known as the "Old Railroad Bridge," is really a scaffold site that goes back to the mid 1800s.
