Thohoyandou

Thohoyandou is a City inside the Limpopo Province of South Africa. It is the executive centre of Vhembe District Municipality and Thulamela Local Municipality. It is also regarded for being the previous capital of the Bantustan of Venda. Thohoyandou turned into built at Tshiluvhi which became underneath Khosi vho Netshiluvhi. Construction started in 1977 with P East and P West residential area as R293 metropolis, a purchasing centre and Venda Government homes.

The Netshiluvhis were the primary occupants of the area as a long way back as 1400 AD, i.E. After the crumble of Mapungubwe Kingdom. They were forcefully removed from this region between 1960 and 1970 by means of the apartheid authorities of the Venda Bantustan beneath khosi vho Mphephu Ramabulana. The name Tshiluvhi comes from the Venda word luvha which means that to pay homages or appreciate. Thohoyandou has become the capital of the former bantustan of Venda, whilst Dzanani is the traditional capital of Venda and the home of the VhaVenda kings. Thohyandou call approach head of the elephant inside the Venda language, and changed into the name of one of the VhaVenda kings.
