It is a local location now intertwined into the town of Howick toward the North West that lies on the sanctuaries of the edge above Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In 1872 the Reverend WO Newnham opened Hilton College on an immense estate a few kilometers north of the town, which is by and by one of South Africa's driving educational cost based schools.
The man who named Hilton was Joseph Henderson 1825– 1899: merchant, financial specialist, operator and legislator. He married Jane Maidstone née Pearson on the thirteenth Aug 1849 in Pietermaritzburg and ran with Theophilus Shepstone as guide to the Transvaal in 1877.
