Chanal

Chanal is a Mexican municipality located within the middle of the country of Chiapas, its municipal seat is the metropolis of the same name. it is placed inside the Central Highlands and its territory is mountainous in its majority. Chanal manner smart that it teaches, within the Tzeltal language.6 It limits to the north with the municipality of Oxchuc and Altamirano, to the east with Las Margaritas, to the south with Comitan and to the west with Amatenango del Valle and Huixtan.

The Dominican friars gave him San Pedro Chanal. The 1st December 1882, seems as a municipality of the Department of Chilon. In 1900, the municipality is stated as belonging to the Department of Las Casas; later, it's far descended to the class of municipal enterprise. On February 10, 1934, it regains its former popularity as an unfastened municipality. On February 15, 1935, its miles relegated to the municipal employer; eventually, on May 8 of the same year, the category of loose municipality was restored.
