Celaya

Celaya is a Mexican city, head of the homonymous municipality within the nation of Guanajuato. Founded on October 12, 1570 with the name of Villa de Los Angeles Purisima Concepcion de Zalaya, 8 it constitutes the principle urban nucleus of the denominated Laja Bajio metropolitan area, 9 and consequently its most crucial economic middle.

Within the framework of the Spanish explorations and conquests of the bordering territories among the Province of Nueva Galicia now Jalisco and the Kingdom of Mexico now Mexico City a sequence of settlements had already been established in what is presently the nation of Guanajuato, well the Bajio place.
