Day 1

Nairobi Kisumu

This is an authentic classic safari covering the western circuit. It’s a road trip that will leave the traveller begging for more due to time lapse. Starting in Nairobi you will be driven to the lakeside city of Kenya (Kisumu). Lake Victoria is the second biggest fresh water lake in the world and here you will get to eat fresh fish straight from the lake cooked by the lakeside, around the city are excursions that will feature visit to Kit mikaye a cultural shrine for the Luo people. A visit to Ndere Island national park where you will see is a wide variety of animals including hippos, monitor lizards, Nile crocodiles, several fish species, snakes, baboons, impalas, the rare sitatunga antelopes, water bucks, zebras and warthogs. Over 100 different species of birds can be seen here including African fish eagles, black headed gonoleks and grey headed kingfishers. This is before heading to Kakamega rain forest the only remaining indigenous rain forests in Kenya. Depart Nairobi for Kisumu which is approximately 347km away. On arrival check in at the hotel and later have lunch. Afterwards head out for city excursion and boating excursion at the Lake Victoria and get to interact with the local people. The majority being Nilotes from the luo community who inhabit the region. Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel.
