Redencao

Redencao is a municipality in the country of Ceara, inside the Northeast region of Brazil. Placed 55 km faraway from Fortaleza, the capital of the country. Redencao in Portuguese manner redemption, and the metropolis has this call because it became the primary town in Brazil that abolished its slaves. The location known as "sopes do Macico de Baturite" around the Acarape River became inhabited for many distinct local Brazilians of various ethnicities like Potyguara, Jenipapo and Kanynde.

During the expansion of agricultural cultures within the kingdom of Ceara, the place of Redencao began the manufacturing of sugarcane. During the 19th century, manyslaves were delivered from Africa through Portuguese colonizers to work in the sugarcane production. In 1868 the town of Acarape became based. At that time, all of the metropolis of Redencao was inserted inside the metropolis of Acarape. In 1882, the area of Acarape abolished all its slaves, that manner it started being called Redencao. After that, the place became a city.
