Luderitz

Lüderitz is a harbour city in the ǁKaras Region of southern Namibia. It lies on one of the least hospitable coasts in Africa. It is a port advanced around Robert Harbour and Shark Island. The bay on which Lüderitz is located was first recognised to Europeans while Bartolomeu Dias encountered it in 1487. He named the bay Angra Pequena and erected a padrão on the southern peninsula. In the 18th century Dutch adventurers and scientists explored the location looking for minerals but did not have much achievement. Further exploration expeditions accompanied within the early 19th century during which the substantial wildlife inside the ocean turned into found.
