Throughout the years, the wellspring was vandalized and parts disappeared. The buy and establishment of the wellspring was supported by the JC Nichols family, the city and private commitments, including an accumulation by school youngsters in the Kansas City territory. It was conveyed to Kansas City in 1951, repaired by Herman Frederick Simon and devoted in 1960.
