Increasing popularity of online ticket booking among visitors have raised an issue of overcrowded at various tourism spots in India on special occasions. This is reported recently when around 2,000 visitors at Taj Mahal were turned away after it was overcrowded on Christmas Eve. Thus, Tourism Minister, Mahesh Sharma has decided to have a meeting with ministers regarding the issue next week.
In this meeting, it is expected to have discussion on the issue of entry denial by security staff despite of visitors have bought the entry ticket through online and ticket counters. Further, Union Tourism and Culture Minister will also have deep discussion on the issues related to tourism sites and various measures to enhance the quality of service.
The major issues are related to the security, cleanliness and ticketing across the country at ticket counters and even online were discussed at length. Another issue in which around 4,000 visitors were denied of tickets at Red Fort due to heavy rush on New Year’s Eve is also expected to be discussed in this meeting.
