In recent years the tourism industry of Srilanka is getting richer with the uprising number of tourists visiting the country. As a result of this there is a growth in the number of boutique hotels, villas, and small independent hotels. Some of these hotels are really wonderful with their spacious accommodation, classy cuisines, and breathtaking ambiance.
Though due to the crucial impact of globalization the entire world is shrinking and looking alike, Sri Lanka yet remains a very rural island. Recently the island is developing very slowly keeping its surrounding green and fertile. A huge portion of the island is preserved as national parks and reserves. Basically the country has developed its tourism industry by preferring ecotourism. Obviously behind protecting greenery, there is a reflection of Buddhist concern for all forms of life. The most wonderful national parks of Sri Lanka include:
1. Yala National Park
Being known for the significant population of leopards, Yala is the best-known national park in the country. The park is formed by the amalgamation of smaller parks located on the east coast. Other than leopard, rich variety of other wildlife is also available here. Along with 40 species of mammals and reptiles, the park also houses a collection of around 200 species of birds. For wildlife enthusiasts it is a paradise indeed.
2. Minneriya National Park
During dry season, i.e., from June to September, the largest gathering of Asian elephants assembles here. The park is located in the central North of Sri Lanka. The area surrounding the park is known to be the driest area in entire Sri Lanka. Basically elephants of this park are the main attraction. But other than this, hundreds of endangered species of animals can be spotted here. Bundala National Park
3. Uda Walawe National Park
Though the size of the park is not so huge, yet to see the elephants in their natural habitat, the park is the best option in Sri Lanka. The moving path to the park is mostly articulated with grassy plains. The inside part is rich in impressive variety of flora and fauna. The terrain towards the northern part inside the park is quite rugged
4. Sinharaja Forrest Reserve
Being one of the famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the lush green forestry and unspoilt tropical rainforest of this park is fabulous. Some of the rarest species of birds in Sri Lanka are found here.
