Pagodas in China are the symbols of the essence of Buddhism in China and the representatives of the extensive Chinese history and culture. Famous Pagodas in China are the magnets that pull a huge number of visitors every year.
Having never been a hills person, a group of my friends and I decided to go and experience the beauty of the Himalayas! The only caveat was to find a place that wasn’t crowded much and at the same time, offered a peaceful environment.
Thank my friend who found Bir Billing – the paragliding hub of India. The place was a perfect getaway option for a long weekend, being an off beat destination for those who would like to avoid the throngs of people that crowd hill stations in summers. Bir is a secluded point, laden with gorgeous scenic views and the joy of adventure sports!
1. Paragliding Site
The paragliding site at Bir Billing sees hundreds of people every day from all parts of the country to experience this adventure sport. Of course, who doesn’t like flying? While it seems impossible from the ground when you look into the sky and see paragliders flying high among the clouds, being up in the air is a divine experience and a must do! The clear and warm days during summers are apt for paragliding! The entire flight experience that lasts up to 25 minutes in just INR 2000, is worth every penny of your money. You take off like a plane takes off, and you feel like a bird flying everywhere endlessly and unharmed.
2. Famous Food
Besides the ultimate joy of paragliding, Bir was surprisingly impressive with the food! There are many exotic places near the site itself that offer the travellers some amazing delicacies that you wouldn’t find elsewhere. My favourite is Pizzeria Café that served its famous Brinjal Pizza, something that we ended up having three times during our journey.
Next day, we wandered across Bir, trying out new delicacies across various cafés in the city as well as some famous landmarks of the town. The breathtaking views of the Tibetan monasteries are a big attraction point at Bir billing. We visited the Sakya Dirru Monastery, Tsering Dzong Monastery and Nyingma Monastery during our day long visit. Whether it was watching monks doing their morning prayers or kids playing after their lunch time, it was a delightful experience- something I want to experience again!
In all, the three day weekend was an unforgettable time, as Bir Billing is now one of my beautiful memories! Not just it gave me the wings to fly well not literally, I was introduced to the charm they call the Himalayas!
