It comes with no surprise that first book to be ever written on astronomy was also Indian. This book was called the Surya Siddhanta. It is believed that this book with composed during the Vedic era.

According to legends, this book is the compilation of the knowledge that the Sun God imparted to Maya, the father-in-law of Ravana. Yes, it’s the same Ravana whom Rama kills at the end of Ramayana.

PS- The book is supposedly 2 million years old!!
