Burma Bazaar is a kilometer-long market located on the Chennai Beach railway station. It houses a whopping 200 shops, with thousands of people visiting this bazaar every week. With the help of the Government of Tamil Nadu, this bazaar was established by Burmese immigrants who escaped from Myanmar during the early 1960s. Run by the Burma Tamizhar Marumalarchi Sangam, the many shops in this bazaar sells electronic goods, chocolates, alcohol, perfumes, movie CDs all for a discounted rate. It is said that electronic goods of every kind such as laptops, cameras, mobile phones, televisions and many more are available here. You might not be provided with any warranty for the goods that you purchase, however, brush up your bargaining skills as you will have to use them here. This bustling bazaar can get pretty noisy at times, and it is advised not to visit with family.

T-Nagar is perhaps the costliest commercial district in the city, with many stores showcasing beautiful jewelry, stunning silk sarees, and commodity stores. Interestingly, T-Nagar also has an area that is full of hundreds of street-side vendors, with their colorful carts and small shops overflowing with merchandise. The road is often jam-packed with people and also has several stores selling household goods and utensils. The place is also a hub for many music festivals and sporting events. It also has several traditional and modern restaurants frequented by the shoppers of T-Nagar.
