In order to promote tourism in West Bengal, Shah Rukh Khan has been roped in as its brand ambassador. He will start promoting tourism from next month and will be involved in various ad campaigns. The tagline of entire campaign will be ‘Experience Bengal… the sweetest part of India’.
He will do 6 ad films of 30 seconds which will be for free. The major clip for the promotion will be of 45 seconds and will mainly concentrate on promoting tourism of the major cities like Dooars, Digha, Darjeeling and Sunderbans.
For enhancing the promotional activities, he will also do outdoor shots and will attract tourists from major countries like France, UK, Canada, Germany, Spain, USA and Singapore. Promotional activities will also be taking place in social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
As per A R Bardhan, Principal Secretary, West Bengal tourism department, various budgets are allocated for tourism promotion in state and will spend INR 4 Cr for improving management and food quality for visitors. Further, some projects are carried out to provide home stay to visitors at places like Dooars and Darjeeling and will provide financial assistance to residents who wish to upgrade their property for tourists stay.
