1. Railway Ministry Come Up with New Reservation Policy for Children between 5-12 Years
Considering the charges for the children under 12 years and above 5 years in rail reservation, the ministry of railways has decided to fix it. From April 21, 2016, while reserving seats for the children below 12 years and above 5 years, choice will be available to make a reservation of separate seats for the children; in this case, the charges will be complete for the seat. However, if no separate seat is selected, the charges charged will be just half of the adult fare. Thus, people who are planning to travel by rail after April 21, 2016; they have to consider this new implementation. Railways already implement the same for reservations that are mad in advance for journey after April 21.
Further, people who opt for the window reservation can indicate the option of complete seat for their children of this age group. Railway also cleared that no change is made in the rule for unreserved tickets. In such case, the charges will still be half the adult fare for the children below 12 years and above 5 years. Children below 5 years will enjoy free journey in both reserved and unreserved tickets.
