1. Govt. to Boost Cruise Tourism in India
Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism and Minister of State for Civil Aviation said that recently a task force is formed by the Ministry of tourism that will emphasis on promoting Cruise tourism in India. He said that the task force constitutes of members from central ministries, state government along with various port trusts and private sector. Cruise tourism is at its peak in the country and travelers highly prefer to enjoy it during their holidays and free time with their entire family or friends.
Further, to provide awareness among travelers about the cruise travel pleasure, a maiden Maritime India Summit, 2016 (MIS-2016) was organized in Mumbai from April 14 to 16, 2016 by Ministry of Shipping. Along with tourism, investment was another area of attraction for visitors. The emphasis was on attracting investors in Indian Maritime Sector and making them aware of the great potential for development and earning opportunity. Therefore, Port authorities have also set up Port Level Facilitation Committees that will help in resolving all the logistic issues for providing best facilities to the travelers and enhance their cruise travel experience.
