1. Aguada Central Jail Goa to be Made Museum
The Aguada Central Jail of Goa stands from the dates of Portuguese rule in India. Thus, Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to convert the Jail into a museum that will attract domestic and foreign visitors. For enhancing the beauty and conducting the necessary development, Goa tourism has decided to involve both Goa’s freedom fighters and Goa Heritage Action Group (GHAG) to handle the project of developing the Jail into a museum. The emphasis will be on restoring the heritage, history and attractiveness of the Jail that can attract visitors. For this, various suggestions from Goa’s freedom fighters and GHAG are welcomed in a meeting that was conducted recently.
Along with the development of the Aguada Central Jail of Goa, plan are also framed to create several activity zones, amenity zones, tourist information centers, viewing galleries, improvement of temple and chapel areas, prison corridors, walls, pathways, seating, improving the prison cells, water fountains, illumination of the jail campus, creating activity zones and improvement of aquifier duct area. Thus, with all such development projects, the original beauty of Aguada Central Jail will be obtained that will turn it into an attracted tourist spot in State.
