1. Ardh Kumbh in Haridwar

Millions of pilgrims are expected to be attending the Ardh Kumbh in Haridwar which is to be held from January 14th 2016. In order to make their travel comfortable, the Uttarakhand Transport Authority has for the first time planned to run special shuttle bus service that will connect the major points in the city. During this three month long affair, thousands of devotees from all across the nation as well as abroad are expected to throng this holy city.

According to the reports, the prominent bathing ghats of Haridwar will be connected with bus stations that are located in the outskirts of the city. In order to make their travel easier, the government has planned to run around 100 special buses which will take the pilgrims to the bathing ghats and back to the bus stands. They will ply throughout the day at regular intervals within the city.

The administration faces a challenge when lakhs of pilgrims flock the holy ghats such as Har ki Pauri on the auspicious dates. As per the government officials, the main objective behind running these special shuttle services is to assist easy transportation of the people who feel stranded on these ghats due to lack of proper transport services.
