Langkawi Wildlife Park which is popularly known as Taman Burung Langkawi is a tropical garden situated by the Jalan Ayer Hangat, Kisap. The park covers an area of around 5.5 acres. It takes about 10 minutes to reach here from Kuah and 30 minutes from the Airport. This wonderful wildlife park lies at the base of the Gunung Raya. More than 2,500 striking birds from 150 species are found here in a picturesque landscape.
The beauty of this capacious compound is exotic. Bird variety is comprised of owls, canaries, toucans, eagles, flamingos, and hornbills. For housing the best variety of birds, once this wildlife complex was known as the Langkawi Bird Park. Later, the park is expanded and an extensive variety of birds and other animals are added to its collection. Its rich wildlife collection is enriched by collecting the variety from all over the world. Animals from China, South America, Australia, Russia, Africa, New Guinea, South East Asia, and Malaysia are found here. For those who are fond of birds, the park is indeed a paradise for them. The park is accepted to be the largest and completely covered wildlife park in Asia. Enormous varieties of admirable birds from across the globe are found here in this tropical garden.Do not miss to have a look at the stunning Flamingo Pond, Macaw Courtyard, and the Mynah Bird. Mynah is a unique tropical bird found especially in Southeast Asia with the ability to mimic human speech. Whereas Cockatoos are a kind of Australian Parrot that can mimic sounds.To spot the birds flying in their natural habitat, one must visit the surrounding areas minutely.This wonderful park also contains a breath-taking bird sanctuary where you can see some other unique variety of birds. This walk-in aviary is a famous stopover housing a man-made waterfall, what offers the landscape a picturesque ambiance. A wide range of water birds like mandarin ducks, tufted flamingos, wood ducks, ducks, Baikal teals, etc. can be spotted swimming in this calm setting.The park is divided into different parts such as the Eagle Section. Here you can witness raptors like the Brahminy Kite, White Belly Sea Eagles, and vultures from South Africa. The Owl's Section contains Malay Eagle Owl and the Barn Owl. Additionally you can spot a lot of other creatures like Pheasants, Lories, Irian Jaya, Cassowaries, Rheas, Ostriches, Papua New Guiena etc.
