Kerala’s cruise tourism is expected to get two advanced hydrofoil Cruise vessels to start operations between Kochi and Kozhikode. Two Russian-flagged advanced hydrofoil vessels have reached Kochi and expected to start operations within a month’s time after receiving the necessary approvals. Department of Ports, Kerala, has already been signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai –based Safe Boat Trips to launch cruise services connecting three port cities of Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
MR. PA Sheikh Pareed – Director of Ports, Kerala said “The services of both the vessels will commence before Onam after completing the due process of changing the flag, seat covers and hiring some localization into the interiors of the vessel. The vessels also require clearances from Mercantile Marine Department (MMD), which is awaited.”
The 138-seater advanced vessels have two-tier configuration of 38 Business class and 100 Economy class seats, and equipped with highest standard safety features. These hi-speed cruises are expected o complete one-way trip from Kochi to Kozhikode in just three-and-half hours.
