This marathon is held every year in Chennai in the month of December. It is the richest marathon in South Asia. It begins from Anna Square in Marina Beach and ends at the Annai Velankanni Church on Elliot’s Beach. The event has a iety of running activities for the people. Starting from a run for pro athletes, a city run for amateurs, a juniors run for kids, the run for the armed forces, an event for senior citizens and for the disabled section a wheelchair run, a lot happens in this marathon.

The first marathon of India was hosted in Pune at Deccan Gymkhana in 1918. A number of runners; pros and amateurs join this race. This event is held in December every year, and its used to convey social messages or for the charitable causes such as raising money through races. The amount collected is given to NGO’s. A short race for celebrities and athletes is also organized by Pune Marathon. The race starts from Khandoji Baba Chowk and takes you all the way through Pune’s landmarks including Shaniwar Wada and Balewadi Sports City.

This marathon is held in September every year and it covers a really beautiful route. It begins from the Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary which is at a distance of 18 kilometers north of Mysore. The run is for a total of 10 kilometers. The run is to be done alongside the Kaveri River and paddy fields near the Balmuri Falls. It is quite a different experience as you have to run through muddy paths leaving those city roads.
