1. Biking on the Manali-Leh highway
Manali-Leh highway that connects two most beautiful states of the country - Jammu and Kashmir to Himachal Pradesh - crosses some of the highest mountains of the world that gives the bikers most blissful and intrepid experience of their life. The 476 km highway remains open for around five months from May or June till mid-October every year. The bikers travelling through the jaw dropping beautiful route must keep few things in mind. They might face disorientation, altitude illness and mechanical breakdown. Plan the trip precisely as weather and road conditions change within hours and there are a very few petrol pumps and service stations on the way.
2. Gape in awe at the Taj Mahal on a moonlit night
Taj Mahal, the wonder that does not need any description, is a mandatory place to visit in India. You must not miss the white marble mausoleum built by Mughal King Shah Jahan, on a moonlit night. On full moon nights, this Wonder of the World glows and takes a stunning form, which is a sight to behold. It is allowed to visit the Taj Mahal at night from 8-30pm to 12-30am in eight groups of 50 persons each for half an hour. The best time to experience the Taj Mahal on a moonlit night is May and June, when the sky is clear.
3. Spot the tiger (if you're lucky) in one of the many national parks
India provides many stunning wildlife experiences, but spotting the Royal Bengal Tiger - a volatile and endangered spices - is on top of the list. When you spot a Bengal Tiger - on the road or hidden under the bush, it is the moment to cling and click and post it to your FaceBook or Instagram immediately. The best time to spot a tiger is in the months of April and May. Royal Bengal Tigers can be spotted in the national parks, including Sundarbans, Kanha, Ranthambore and Bandhavgarh.
4. Walk over a frozen river
Chadar trek, considered to be one of the toughest and most thrilling treks, is a journey over the frozen Zanskar River. The name Chadar, which means blanket in Hindi, itself, makes people curious about the trekking. The one way trek is around 105 kms and you can cover the distance of 15-17 kms per day. During the daytime, the temperature is recorded 15C to 20C, while at night it goes down to -15C to -35C. If you are a trek-freak, then we can assure you that Chadar trek is the big daddy of all. Please keep the facts in mind that in such a temperature you must carry your warmest clothes, trekking shoes and sleeping bags.
5. Visit the Kumbh Mela
Kumbh Mela is a Hindu pilgrimage site. The Kumb Mela in 2013 is considered as the largest religious gathering of the world attended by more than eight million people. According to Hindu mythology, once upon a time there was an epic war between the gods and demons. During the battle, four precious drops of Amrit (the drink of immortality) fell on four places in India - Allahabad, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain. So, the Mela is held after every three years at one of these locations - selected by rotation. People, who have showed up at the Kumbh, are said to have a life-altering experience.
