About Tonk
Tonk is a town in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The town is situated 95 km 60 mi by road south from Jaipur, near the right bank of the Banas River. It is the regulatory base camp of Tonk District. Tonk was likewise the capital of the eponymous royal territory of British India from 1817 to 1947. The organizer of the state was Nawab Muhammad Amir Khan 1769-1834, a traveler and military pioneer of Pashtun plunge from Afghanistan. Amir Khan rose to be a military officer. In 1806, Khan got the province of Tonk from British Government.
In 1817, after the Third Anglo-Maratha War, Amir Khan submitted to the British East India Company, he kept his region of Tonk and got the title of Nawab. The establishing leader of Tonk was Nawab Muhammad Amir Khan 1769-1834. Tonk was known as Samwad Lakshya in the Mahabharat time frame. In the Mauryan administration, it was under the Mouryas and after that it was converged into Malvas. A large portion of the period was under Harsh Vardhan. As per Huen Tsang, guest to China, it was under Bairath State. In the administration of the Rajputs, this state was under, Solankis of Toda and later Kachvahs assumed control when Man Singh vanquished the Rao of Toda. Afterward, it was under the administration of King Holkar and Sindhia.
