Thor Lake
Around 30 kilometers from the main city Thor Lake also known as Thol Lake is a place where you can enjoy bird watching. The lake capacitates more than 200 species of birds. Being a shallow lake it offers you a chance to observe the birds very closely. It is a site of shelter for many species of migratory birds. The surrounding agricultural land is pretty fertile cultivating enough food to feed the birds. The lake is indeed a delight for the nature lovers.
Vastrapur Lake
A venue for cultural events, the Vastrapur Lake is surrounded with lush green lawns. It is situated at the western part of the city and entertains the joggers and walkers every morning and evening. One can enjoy boating on the lake and relax sunbathing at the sides of the lake. The garden surrounding it makes it a perfect picnic spot.
Sabarmati Riverfront
Sabarmati riverfront is a vast stretch of concrete made patio that makes a perfect picnic spot. You can enjoy boating in the River Sabarmati. Calico Museum of Textiles
Calico Museum is the finest of the textile museum know for its incredible role in textile revolution in India. It is a celebrated museum in the entire world and also an institute of Indian Textile Industry. It boasts the ethnic Gujarati architecture and showcases an explicit collection of textile specimen from all over India for more than five centuries.
Hathee Singh Temple
It is a famous Jain temple named after its founder Seth Hathee Singh. The temple is devoted to the 15th Jain Terthankar named Dharmnath. The use of splendid white marble in the making of this temple makes it an unique monument. The temple has a fully tiled courtyard that homes 52 shrines.
Ahmed Shah Mosque
Sultan Ahmed Shah was the founder of the city, Ahmedabad. The mosque is an exemplary marvel of architecture and most beautiful out of all the mosques in the city. It was once the private chapel for the regal family but now it is open for the tourists. Made with white and black marble the mosque is a must visit site.
Dada Hari Ni Vav
Dada Hari Ki Vav is a stepwell built during the reign of Mehmud Begda around 500 years ago. It has a tomb of Dada Hari at the back side, this is where the name Dada Hari Ni Vav came into existence.
The vav has a great water conservation plan and also arrangements of accommodation of travelers. Though not much advertised by signs and board to guide, reaching this vav leaves you in a great delight to witness this splendid marvel of architecture.
Sabarmati Ashram
Located at the right side of the Sabarmati River, this ashram is the home of Bapu, the great Indian freedom fighter. Mahatma Gandhi spent 12 golden years of his life in this ashram with his wife and many others. The ashram is popularly known as Gandhi Ashram and Satyagrah Ashram. The ashram is a National monument because of the great role it played in the fight for freedom of India. The ashram has a library which capacitates more than 35,000 books.
